Hello ,i wanna ask about wind turbine generator….which kind of generator we use induction or synchronous…

which kind of generator induction or sunchronous and does the wind speed affect the generator,if its induction the wind speed must be constant or it will damage…..how we controll the speed, plz help?

  1. Synchronous generator has a synchronous motor that keeps the turbines (or blades) at a constant speed.

Speed control can be attained by tilting the entire rotor or by using a constant speed prop similar to what is used on airplanes. The blades are tilted to maintain the speed.

  2. The speed is self regulating. You don’t have to worry about that. The torque and power output vary with the wind speed.

You do need to have a good set of brakes in case you lose the connection and the turbine overspeed. The will break the sound barrier and blow themselves apart without the electrical drag.

The non synchronous generators are more expensive but can operate in lower wind speeds so they put out more power.
