DOCTORATE DEGREE:

the “WEST” owes enough to Islam but did you know that the “DOCTORATE DEGREE” originates from the Muslim world in the 9th century?

The origin of the doctorate dates back to the ijazat attadris wa ‘l-ifta’ Arabic: إجازة التّدريس والإفتاء (“license to teach and issue legal opinions”) in the medieval madrasahs which taught Islamic law. It was equivalent to the Doctor of Laws qualification and was developed during the 9th century after the formation of the Madh’hab legal schools. To obtain a doctorate, a student “had to study in a guild school of law, usually four years for the basic undergraduate course” and at least ten years for a post-graduate course. The “doctorate was obtained after an oral examination to determine the originality of the candidate’s theses,” and to test the student’s “ability to defend them against all objections, in disputations set up for the purpose” which were scholarly exercises practiced throughout the student’s “career as a graduate student of law.” After students completed their post-graduate education, they were awarded doctorates giving them the status of faqih (meaning “master of law”), mufti (meaning “professor of legal opinions”) and mudarris (meaning “teacher”), which were later translated into Latin as magister, professor and doctor respectively

How DARE the KUFFAR say that MUSLIMS never contributed anything to SOCIETY?

Are you out of your mind? We VIRTUALLY INVENTED SOCIETY, CIVIL society!
Muslim astronomers and engineers constructed a variety of highly accurate astronomical clocks for use in their observatories. [10]
Timekeeping astrolabe: In the 10th century, al-Sufi described over 1,000 different uses of an astrolabe, including timekeeping, particularly for the times of Salah prayers and Ramadan.[191]
Geared mechanical lunisolar calendar computer: See Analog computers above.
Geared mechanical astrolabe: Featured a calendar computer and gear-wheels, and was invented by Abi Bakr of Isfahan in 1235.[200]
Monumental water-powered astronomical clocks: Al-Jazari invented monumental water powered astronomical clocks which displayed moving models of the sun, moon, and stars. His largest astronomical clock displayed the zodiac and the solar and lunar orbits. Another innovative feature of the clock was a pointer which travelled across the top of a gateway and caused automatic doors to open every hour.[79]
Programmable castle clock
Dials
Universal sundial: A universal sundial for all latitudes, used for timekeeping and for the determination of the times of Salah, was produced in 9th-century Baghdad.[233]
Navicula de Venetiis: A universal horary dial used for accurate timekeeping by the sun and stars, and could be observed from any latitude, invented in 9th century Baghdad.[234] This was later considered the most sophisticated timekeeping instrument of the Renaissance.[175]
Polar-axis sundial: The ancient sundials were nodus-based with straight hour-lines, they indicated unequal hours—also called temporary hours—that varied with the seasons, since every day was divided into twelve equal segments; thus, hours were shorter in winter and longer in summer. The idea of using hours of equal time length throughout the year was the innovation of Ibn al-Shatir in 1371, based on earlier developments in trigonometry by Muhammad ibn Jābir al-Harrānī al-Battānī (Albategni). Ibn al-Shatir was aware
Alidade: Invented in the Islamic world. The term “alidade” is itself derived from Arabic word al-idhâdah “ruler”.
Astrolabic clock: Ibn al-Shatir in the early 14th century.[226]
Astrometric devices: Produced in Islamic Spain around 1015.
Astronomical compass: The first astronomical uses of the magnetic compass is found in a treatise on astronomical instruments written by the Yemeni sultan al-Ashraf in 1282. This was the first reference to the compass in astronomical literature.[227]
Compendium instrument: A multi-purpose astronomical instrument, first constructed by the Muslim astronomer Ibn al-Shatir in the 13th century. His compendium featured an alidade and polar sundial among other things. Al-Wafa’i developed another compendium in the 15th century which he called the “equatorial circle”, which also featured a horizontal sundial. These compendia later became popular in Renaissance Europe.[228]
Shadow square: An instrument used to determine the linear height of an object,
Equatorium: Invented by Abū Ishāq Ibrāhīm al-Zarqālī (Arzachel) in Islamic Spain circa 1015,[18] it was a mechanical analog computer device for finding the longitudes and positions of the moon, sun, and planet]s, without calculation using a geometrical model to represent the celestial body’s mean and anomalistic position.
Saphaea: The first universal latitude-independent astrolabe, invented by Abū Ishāq Ibrāhīm al-Zarqālī (Arzachel) in 11th century Islamic Spain. Unlike its predecessors, it did not depend on the latitude of the observer, and could be used anywhere on the Earth.[192]
Zuraqi: A heliocentric astrolabe where the Earth is in motion rather than the sky, by al-Sijzi in the 11th century.[193]
Fixed-wired knowledge processing machine: Abū Rayhān al-Bīrūnī’s hodometer[194] was an early example of a fixed-wired knowledge processing machine in the early 11th century.[195]
Mechanical lunisolar calendar computer: Featured a gear train and gear-wheels, and was invented by Abū Ray
Yes CHRISTIANS did invent things: Gay rights. Democracy. Legalizing abortion. Everything God is against : ]

Alembic, still, and retort: Jabir ibn Hayyan (Geber) invented the alembic in the 8th century. This was the first still[3] with a retort,[205] and the first distillation device to fully purify chemical substances.
Conical measure: Abū Rayhān al-Bīrūnī in the 11th century.[206][207]
Hydrostatic balance and steelyard: Al-Khazini in 1121.[208]
Laboratory flask and pycnometer: Abū Rayhān al-Bīrūnī.[208]
Refrigerated coil and refrigerated tubing: In the 11th century, Avicenna invented the refrigerated coil, which condenses aromatic vapours.[209][210] This was a breakthrough in distillation technology and he made use of it in his steam distillation process, which requires refrigerated tubing, to produce essential oils.[12]
Thermometer and air thermometer: Abū Alī ibn Sīnā (Avicenna) in the 11th century.[211]
Tools for drug preparation: Muhammad ibn Zakarīya Rāzi (Rhazes)
the KUFFAR love to ignore it. the TRUTH is like GARLIC to a VAMPIRE to the KUFFAR haaaaaahahahahaha.

ALLAH HU AKBAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
jamesdn you owe the U.S. government & the EXPLOSIVES they used for that controlled demolition : ] Not Muslims.
Lilith <<< is that the best you got? LOL
oh yeah Jamesdn..building 7 still needs a plane. lmao
6. Why do Muslims move to America and the west if they're so great and their societies are so great and blessed? (Asked by LILLITH)

Why do Christians go to places like DUBAI/SAUDI ARABIA/QATAR if THEY are so BLESSED?

Thank you for your irrelevent input in the discussion : ]

world’s largets wind generator is 3.2×10(6)W. how long will it take to produce 3.5×10(7)J of energy?

3.2 x 10^6W. How long will it take to produce 3.5 x 10^7J of energy

What do you think of this question? http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Al5ZBwT6hxD3IhK8rfzmJUEezKIX?

That 73 people who voted for internet television must not really be aware of the issues in the world today. We should be looking at things in a much more global and realistic stance — we are running out of fossil fuel. The North American lifestyle consumes extreme amounts of fossil fuel on a daily basis as well as adds incredible amounts of pollutants to the atmosphere (Why is it exactly that the American Government refused to sign the Kyoto Accord?). Within the next decade we could potentially be out of fossil fuels which would cause drastic change to the way of life — such as reduced global transportation resulting in reduced products available in stores (from clothing to fresh fruit) — so in a decade the reality is we could be using things such as solar power or wind power far more than we currently do. Hybrid cars that are on the market today are a falicy since many areas still use fossil fuel to help create electricity. I think solar powered laptops (the batteries destroy the environment) and solar powered cars will be more of a reality.
As for the people who said oxygen masks, I quite agree with them. If we continue to hurt the envrionment in which we do.
Also the changing weather patterns will cause more and more storms (also caused by our pollution on the environment) so we will probably be forced to change the way deal with the weather.
Too bad all we worry about is whether or not we can get our television on our computers.

I agree it was a good question. I should have asked my question better — what I meant to ask was, what do you think of the so-called BEST ANSWER to this question.

What if humanity was evolved to be peaceful and intelligent?

This is a philisophical and hypothetical question. What if it was the case. Don’t tell it couldn’t happen because this concludes that it has happened hypothetically. What do you think we could accomplish? I think we would colonize the solar system and ultimately the far reaches of the universe. I think we could achieve things greated than the 7 wonders of the world tenfold to the umpteenth power. How would you envision Utopia?

Gobal warming and cars and fossil fuels?

I find it amazing that in the wake of all the talk about global warming that the big three and the asian and european car companies have found it impossible to build an affordable hybryd are electric car. Not to mention we don’t even need to use fossil fuels any longer we have nuclear, solar and hydro that could supply the world with power. What it comes down to is that all governments in the world are willing to destroy the environment for the almighty oil dollar.Think you united nations

Energy Independece?

Not because we’re going to melt the world or the pigmy 3-toed bat will go extinct.

If we

1: Replace all gas cars with hydrogen cars

2: Require all homes to produce sufficient energy to run their home during the day using solar, wind, hydro, or other renewable power.

The result would be:

1: We would treat the Middle East as we do Somalia. Every time they killed another million locals, we’d look across the ocean and click out tongues and say, “Isn’t that too bad.” Then go back to ignoring them.

2: We could also make it quite clear that any act of terrorism against the US or our allies would be met with the deadliest response. Then follow through.

3: Insulate our economy from the price fluctuation of oil.

4: Thumb our noses at the holier than thou Europeans.

5: Make the world a better smelling place.

Before anyone starts whining about technology, my plan would take 10 years. But, you don’t get to the finish line if you don’t start.
Lucky, you sound just like the energy executives from the 70s. We can never clean our emissions, we’ll go broke. But, they did clean the emissions and not go broke.

I’m not saying the conversion would be easy. But beneficial in the long run.
NeilsB, the money would come from consumers. You want to buy a car, you’ll by a green car. You want to own a home, you’ll install the solar, wind, hydro generators. Just part of the cost of doing business. In 10 years, nobody would even notice it.
mbush40, we would never have left England if everyone thought like you do. Ok, we shoot for 10 years and it takes 15. That’s still better than inaction!
eyesinthedrk, I also have a problem with outlawing gas cars. This requires a delicate balance between national security and freedom. Maybe, rather than outlawing gas cars, we could place a steadily increasing tax on them to subsidize green cars. Maybe 10% per year, so in 10 years there would be a 100% tax on gas cars. The revenue could be used to further scientific study of renewable energy resources. Those who truly want a gas car could still purchase one.

What are mechanical needs of an Agrarian community?

Specifically in a third world, or developing country. What are some basic mechanical devices that would greatly improve the efficiency of life in an agrarian community. The two main ones I’ve come up with to take into consideration are water pumps/purifiers, and grain mills, but I’m sure there are more.
