Would a pocket sized van de graaff generator be powerful enough for pranks?

I want to make one and hide it somewhere on my body and get it to constantly charge me, so that I zap people whenever I touch them.

Also, I heard that if you use a van de graaff generator to charge yourself up you could create ion wind just be pointing your finger…if this is true then I could do many more magic tricks and pranks :) .

Our Community Van (1967GMC)engine has broke. Used to transport Elderly Disabled Seniors in wheelchairs. HELP ?

Does anyone know anyone that might help us get our Van back on the road, unfortunately it does NOT run at all now? We are in a very rural part of AZ in an extremely poor community. Our van allowed us to transport the disabled elderly in their wheelchairs to stores and other locations that allowed them to survive on their low monthly incomes of $600 and under. It is an old 1967 step van that allowed us to stand up in it making it a bit easier to aid these disabled seniors in wheelchairs. There has been NO body locally that is able to provide us with any assistance, in the repairs needed. We are over 40 miles (round trip) to a market and 100 miles (RT) to major shopping center, Hospital & doctor. Our area had FIRE victims of AZ’s greatest FIRE in 2002. Many NEVER received any assistance from FEMA, SBA, HUD, USDA, Red Cross, etc. to repair their damaged homes. They were told they were “TOO POOR” to get HELP. Some have NOT had any electric power or running water for almost 4 years. HELP??

Amazing SOLAR and WIND Powered VAN

This is fantastic, it just shows what you can do with renewable energy. This is the way forward for vehicle technology. An electric powered van that uses onboard wind and solar generation to charge it’s batteries. For more info go to: www.solarvan.co.uk

tips please…I plan on living in my van during college. Still have 2.5 years to prep.?

Yeah…So I plan on living in my van during college. Its a 1993 gmc Vandura 2500 the back is aprox 6 by 9.5 by 4.5. Luckily, I have about $3,000 to invest into it (aside from appliances), so it wont be so bad. I’ve been planning this since I was in 7th grade, however I still have a few issues.

Most importantly, powering the appliances. solar panels would cost too much…so is there any way to power batteries off of the gas engine, and use them during the night? This is a list of the appliances I will use, and approx how long during each DAY….yes, this is quite a bit of power…which is why I also wonder if hooking up several generators (making sure of theft-proofness, and safety w/fumes) would be an option
20″ tv +satellite equipment 3 hrs/day
Laptop 5 hrs/day
3 15 watt lights 10hrs/day
1000 watt microwave .25 hrs/day
surround sound/stereo equip 6 hrs/day
also, parking and showering are taken care of. I have access to a 5 acre parcel where I am legally allowed to park. to give you an idea, the school is www.adams.edu and the area is www.colomtland.com
I cant seem to figure out how to reply to people on here, so I guess I will add this all as a detail. I have considered a 5 by 8 or 6 by 10 travel trailer, however that is too much space…trust me, that idea has long crossed my mind. I will be able to leave the large generator equipment behind while using the van to go places, so bulkiness is not an issue as it will be contained outside the vehicle. Also, the area where I will be is definately away from people: the place is called the San Luis Valley…its about as big as massachutes and not even 50,000 people call it home. neighbors usually arent any closer than 10 acres to you
hehe, and one more thing…I dont think I’ve ever heard someone call living in a car cute. I’m just trying to make it a more comfortable experience
to the one who mentioned the warm climate… actually, it gets quite cold out there, however, It wouldnt be the first time I have slept with no heat in near 0 weather (the year before last, I went through an entire Michigan winter like that). It doesnt get above 90 in the summer on the hottest day, so thats def not an issue since I like it around 60 inside, which is what I will get during the night when I’m sleeping.

I’ve been planning the inside ideas for quite a while. The van width fits the length of a regular bed perfectly, and considering that it is not illegal to make the rear windows opaque, privacy wont be a huge issue either. I also plan on replacing the 3 large windows with ones that open more. I’ve also come up with several color schemes for the interior fabric and carpet…thanks for the positive advice; and realising that it is NOT impossible to save $5,000 a year on housing AND enjoy it…!

Im living in my van. Can I power my Roland synthesizer keys with a solar panel sold at Canadian Tire ?

My keyboard is a Roland Fantom X7 . It consumes 17 W of power. Will the 12 Watt Eliminator Solar Panel sold at Canadian Tires provide me with enough power to play for an hour or two at a time ? I also have a Yorkville 50 K ( watt ) Keyboard Amp, and/or a 12 W Roland Amp. Will either of the amps and Roland Synth be able to be powered by the Solar Panel, depending on how big the battery capacity ? This is the SOlar Panel link : http://www.canadiantire.ca/assortments/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524443281867&FOLDER%3C%3EbrowsePath=2534374303517494&FOLDER%3C%3EbrowsePath=2534374303517530&FOLDER%3C%3EbrowsePath=1408474396670123&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=1408474396670123&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=1408474396670271&bmUID=1145694198178

AM I better off getting the Cdn TIre 1750 W Power Inverter or 1200 Watt Motormaster Eliminator Power Box ?

#024 – MadStu’s Water Powered Van – Cell 4 – R.I.P…

I’ve got some bad news :( This cell, in it’s current form, is no more. I was driving along, heard a “POP” sound – I thought I’d gone over a pot hole or something, but after inspecting the acrylic has cracked at the top of the casing due to an explosion. I’ve determined that the spark happened inside the casing, caused by the plates not being held together. While driving, I noticed that the current would start at around 16 amps. After 5 minutes the amps would be down to about 9. I turned off …
