“There’s all kinds of people to see and music to play. It’s very cool,” says Hicks of life after AI5.
As for his current 54 plus city tour, “It’s grueling, but rewarding to see all the fans.”
When asked about himself & other contestants, whom he calls his friends,
“I’m not into the numbers game. I’m into playing music,” he says.
“That’s a story line for others, not me.”
His sold-out concerts draw a mix of people:
“It’s like 7 to 85; it’s cool to see the eclectic group of people who come.”
“You have to take it easy,” says Hicks, who spent years performing before Idol. “You save your energy for the stage.”
So does he remain mellow when he’s offstage? “Yeah, you could say that”.
Hicks doesn’t keep track of his press coverage on the Web.
“A lot of my friends got deals, which was really great.” he says.
“I’m a harmonica and guitar player, a musician,” he says.
“I think there’s more in my concerts than what people have seen before.”
