What word should go in the blank spot. See details.?

I saw the lake today.
The fescue pushed down toward the water’s edge as
The wind-blown ripples licked at the banks.
The color went from green to blue as the eye
Approached the center.
All was well.

I saw the lake today.
A storm brewing below the surface ignited.
I covered my eyes with horror as
Volcanic rocks broke through the water’s surface.
It was like a rope strung though a bed of coals had sparked.
It was the end.

I saw the lake today.
The winds were whipping the waves into the sandy banks.
The ground was no match for the power of the water until
Suddenly the sand gave way to granite and bone.
________.
All was well.

Dumb or What?

OK.. Visa had a thing where you could get a free solar power calculator on-line.. Today I got it… Box reads “Solar Powered Electronic Calculator”.
Why did I need to insert 1AA battery in order to get it to work.. Which CLEARLY has a photovoltaic cell on top?
Should I trust Visa as much as their promotion?
LOL

How much further would we be technologically if we had embraced Nikola Tesla’s ideas and not Thomas Edison’s?

Nikola Tesla was the father of alternating current (AC), which is the most common form of electricity today. Thomas Edison favored direct current (DC), the type of electricity in batteries.

However at the beginning of the 20th century, Tesla invented and had perfected a method of transmitting electricty via the atmosphere, known as the Tesla coil. This method of distribution, would have allowed our homes, buildings, and vehicles to run without the use of fossil fuels or wires. Simply put, free energy for everyone.

Edison favored a land-line wire method of distribution and ultimately won, because there was money to be made. The people with the money obviously weren’t in the business to fund a completely free method of power distribution. Ultimately, we ended up with a monthly electric bill.

Where do you think humantiy would be today, if we had adopted this free, unteathered method of power distribution?

What do you think of this question? http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Al5ZBwT6hxD3IhK8rfzmJUEezKIX?

That 73 people who voted for internet television must not really be aware of the issues in the world today. We should be looking at things in a much more global and realistic stance — we are running out of fossil fuel. The North American lifestyle consumes extreme amounts of fossil fuel on a daily basis as well as adds incredible amounts of pollutants to the atmosphere (Why is it exactly that the American Government refused to sign the Kyoto Accord?). Within the next decade we could potentially be out of fossil fuels which would cause drastic change to the way of life — such as reduced global transportation resulting in reduced products available in stores (from clothing to fresh fruit) — so in a decade the reality is we could be using things such as solar power or wind power far more than we currently do. Hybrid cars that are on the market today are a falicy since many areas still use fossil fuel to help create electricity. I think solar powered laptops (the batteries destroy the environment) and solar powered cars will be more of a reality.
As for the people who said oxygen masks, I quite agree with them. If we continue to hurt the envrionment in which we do.
Also the changing weather patterns will cause more and more storms (also caused by our pollution on the environment) so we will probably be forced to change the way deal with the weather.
Too bad all we worry about is whether or not we can get our television on our computers.

I agree it was a good question. I should have asked my question better — what I meant to ask was, what do you think of the so-called BEST ANSWER to this question.

What do you know about Wind Turbines?

In the old days, Wind turbines were used to gather energy like they do now. So were water wheels. Today’s technology is much more complicated. But back in those days, what were the Components of the wind turbine? Or the Water Wheels? What exactly happens that makes the motion from the wind mill or the water wheel turn into energy? Or, to put it a little easier, do you know of a website that explains it?

How do u know if you have a transmission leak or a power steering leak?

When I went to drive my jeep today, I had a pretty big puddle of red/pink fuid in the snow underneath. It has been pretty cold here about -25 and about -32 with the wind, so it could be the power steering line, but dodge suposedly fixed it a couple about 5 weeks ago, because it was making a weird noise when I turned left. Now it makes a weird noise when it even starts…
It is a 2001 Grand Cherokee. It is towards the front, I added power steering fluid so I could drive home from work, and I am pretty sure it is all gone again (it is now like -30 without the wind and I am definitely not going out to check it) Whatever fluid it is just pours right out. It will be going back to the mechanic tomorrow, I was just wondering what kind of money I am looking at, even though I already paid over $150 to fix the leaks a little over a month ago..
I don’t recall a hesitation shifting the gears, I do however think that when I went to leave work last night, I am pretty sure there was a slight hesitation when I went to turn, I just thought it was a build up of ice and snow by the tires…
I was just thinking….Maybe with the cold the Power Steering resevoir cracked.. God knows it is definitely cold enough to crack a brick building….

They love Clinton ????

The USS William Jefferson Clinton (CVS1) set sail today from its home port of Vancouver , BC.

The ship is the first of its kind in the Navy and is a standing legacy to President Bill Clinton “for his foresight in military budget cuts” and his conduct while president. The ship is constructed nearly entirely from recycled aluminum and is completely solar powered with a top speed of 5 knots. It boasts an arsenal comprised of one (unarmed) F14 Tomcat or one (unarmed) F18 Hornet aircraft which although they cannot be launched or captured on the 100 foot flight deck do form a very menacing presence.

As a standing order there are no firearms allowed on board. The 20 person crew is completely diversified and includes members of all races, creeds, sex, and sexual orientation. This crew, like the crew aboard the USS Jimmy Carter, is specially trained to avoid conflicts and appease any and all enemies of the United States at all costs.

An on board Type One DNC Universal Translator can send out messages of apology in any language to anyone who may find America offensive. The number of apologies are limitless and though some may sound hollow and disingenuous, the Navy advises all apologies will sound very sincere.

The ship’s purpose is not defined so much as a unit of national defense – but instead in times of conflict the USS Clinton has orders to seek refuge in Canada . The ship may be positioned near the Democratic National Party Headquarters for photo-ops and can be used extensively for social experimentation, and whatever other worthless jobs, the ex-commander-in-chief and his wife can think of.

It is largely rumored that the ship will also be the set for the upcoming season of MTV’s “The Real World”.

The ship was renamed and commissioned USS William J Clintion when someone realized the USS Blowfish was already taken!
