A) the covalent bonds in organic molecules are higher energy bonds than those in water and carbon dioxide
B) electrons are being moved from atoms that have a lower affinity for electrons (such as C) to atoms with a higher affinity for electrons (such as O).
C) the oxidation of organic compounds can be used to make ATP
D) the electrons have a higher potential energy when associated with water and CO2 than they do in organic compounds
E) the covalent bond in O2 is unstable adn easily broken by electros from organic molecules

Will Diamond spontaneously decompose into Graphite?

I have a question in the Free Energy section of our textbook that is giving me problems. Here goes “When carbon and oxygen combine to form carbon dioxide, the reaction releases more free energy when diamond is used as a source of carbon than when graphite is used as the carbon source. Based on this information, will diamond spontaneously decompose into graphite? If it does why do we not see our diamond jewelry become pencil points? If it does not, then does this imply that diamonds will last forever?

I am really interested in knowing why people decide yes he is alive……..he is dead. What is it actually makes a man dead? What is that which goes from him so that he cannot walk ,run or talk? It’s really amazing…….what is that power which made me to see, hear, jump, run, feel happy, sad, cry, smile…..so on. Can anybody explain what is life? Being alive is a precious gift..who gave that to me? Why tree grows? Why fish can’t live in earth? Why it rains? Who made earth to rotate around sun? Why there is rainy season…Winter and Summer? Can’t we have only one season? Why we eat? Why we have feelings? Why love happens? Why there is water on earth? Why we need oxygen why can’t we live with carbon dioxide? Who made all these rules? Why cat can’t talk? Why we cannpt fly like birds? Why they have feathers? If it is Darvin’s theory then why men never wanted to fly in his early days.???I do feel that he might have felt like that. So man should have tried then by now we could have…….

How are we going to handle the oxygen pollution?

When we finally go into industrial production of hydrogen to power our vehicles we will be producing 8 tons of oxygen for every ton of hydrogen. Simply venting this to the atmosphere as industries are wont to do will produce serious hazards around the production plants, ranging from increased fire danger to plant toxicity to animal toxicity, depending on concentrations. Depending on diffusion and wind to dissipate the oxygen is the same mistake we’ve made throuought history with airborne pollutants.
I know that burning H2 and O2 produces water, so the net global effects are nil. That’s supposed to be the attraction of H2 technology. We will eventually be forced to use electrlysis, since all other methods produce worse pollutants. I have no idea what DMHO silliness is, and, from context, don’t wish to learn. The problem of large local imbalances remains.
