Has anyone built their own wind turbine/generator?

I just need to verify my information, so if you know what you’re talking about, I’d appreciate your feedback. I’m mounting the blades onto a permananent-magnet Baldor motor scavenged from an old treadmill. The wires from the motor will run to a set of deep-cycle batteries and keep them charged. The wires from the batteries run to an automotive inverter to change the 12V DC power into 110 household electric, and from there into my shop where I can power my tools. First, is that all correct? And second, I’m told I need a diode in there somewhere so that the batteries don’t run the motor instead of the other way around. How does one wire a diode, and what kind of diode do I need?

How to make a wind turbine?

I have a blade from a broken fan ( the motor broke so the blade is fine ) and wanted to know if anyone had plans on how to make a power generating wind turbine. I know not a powerful one but one to experiment with.

I found them on a site, but haven’t had the time to build there machine. After reading the heck out of the plans and the explanation it theoretically sounds like it would work. Just looking for insight.

STIRLING ENGINE SOLAR POWER FRESNEL LENS HOT AIR ENGINE MOTOR

www.greenpowerscience.com This is a new design I found, they work with a Fresnel Lens or a Parabolic Mirror. Strong and efficient for its size. A proper Fresnel Lens. Also a Dual Rotor Axial Flux Generator. Most people try a plastic reflector from the back, this is a poor option. Also if you use a standard “Dynamo” for power, you will be lucky to get 3-10 watts. Stirling engines are hindered by “COGGING” Axial Flux limits cogging. Still the overall cost and time to get a max of 40 watts. Solar Panels are by far the best option. But these are fun for sure. We have been trying different videos and had a run of experiments not going right. Also Florida is very cloudy from June – July, this video took 4 hours to shoot waiting for the clouds.

Steorn an Irish company has issued a challenge in journal Economist. It claims to have developed a free energy motor and is seeking the 12 most qualified and most cynical physicists to test it. Results will be made public.
