I’m pregnant with my second and scheduled to either be induced or for a c-section on Monday 3/9 depending upon whether my body gets in gear for labor or not. I’d prefer to try for a VBAC if I can, but that’s looking a little doubtful as my cervix isn’t ripe. In fact, my OB said it feels like it’s scarred completely shut. I’ve never had any procedure other than your run-of-the-mill pap smear outside of pregnancy. My first pregnancy ended in a ‘bikini-cut’ c-section after almost 12 hours of induction when I stalled out at 6cm and stayed there for 4+hours. My OB also, during said pregnancy, did break my water after I was a few cm dialated, but other than that, that’s it. I also am std free and always have been to the best of my knowledge. I know in this day and age it’s unusual, but I’ve only been intimate with my hubby. I intend to ask my OB on Monday if I can remember with all the excitement and confusion of welcoming our second into the world. I think I was a little too stunned by her declaration to ask her after she said it at my last check up. If anyone knows either from medical knowledge and/or experience, I’d love to know now. And… If you happen to know of anything one can do to safely (for both mother and child) to loosen/break the scar up, I’d be interested in knowing it. Thank you for your time and consideration in answering this question. Hope that wasn’t too much information.
Take care!
