intregueing chemestry question?

ok i was doing a heat release question where i am given two molecules and the bond energies of each of their pieces and a reaction
i was asked to calculate the change in heat for the reaction
i found that the reactants side was 345 less than the products side
i know the formula says that i am to take the products side and subtract from the reactants side but explain to me how that makes logical sense
that would mean you get an answer reactants-products=-345
i knew this but i thought about it and i wrote +345 (i got it wrong) because if it were the other way that would mean that the reactants give up an amount of energy less than that which the products need to form and the reaction gives off energy this is impossible
(no free lunch rule)

how can u need more energy than u have and still give off energy
(energy is measured from the point of view of the system remember)

The so-called panels consist of some chips?what are those chips?Solar power stored in some Batteries.What are those batteries? Whether these panels can be manufactured in a small set up like any other Village Industries.OR How the heat generated by the solar energy can be transmitted to a copper coil and generate heat in it?

what happens to the mechanical energy of freely rotating shaft .?friction and heat r not d maater..?

If law of conservation of energy is true ..what happens to the mechanical energy of freely rotating shaft .??
if we start an egine and allowed to run.here the chemical energy of fuel is converted into heat.further this heat energy is converted into mechanical energy of rotating shaft.if this shaf is connected to a generator it will produce electric energy & if connectd to pump it will lift fluid.what happens to that energy if we leave that shaft rotate free with out using..is that entire enrgy transferred to AIR surrounding shaft…?????? heat and friction may not be the answers as they exist all the time, no matter we r utilising the energy or not.

Why don’t we utilize the heating power of volcanoes to make thermal electric power stations?

Turning the generator makes electricity, generator is turned by turbine, and turbine is turned by force: the force is either water from waterfalls or steam. Boiling water creates steam. Water is boiled by coal, natural gas or atomic power. Why don’t we use the heat form volcanoes? This question is for scientists, who can think of a way utilize that wasted heat.

Costly not to have an energy efficient fridge?

We just got a fridge from some friends, and it’s an older fridge (20 years old). It’s still in great condition, but the prev. owner said it just wasn’t energy efficiant. We got it for free, so we’re not too concerened, expecially since we can’t afford a new one right now. Do you know how much a difference it will make in our electric bill? Right now, on average, ours is about $70 (because we’re not using air or heat).
Sorry, I didn’t mean that our bill is $70.00 with the fridge. We just picked it up tonight, and we haven’t even used it yet. Our bill is currently $70.00 (for MID Modesto Irrigation districtn is what we use for air/heat). I just don’t know how much it’s going to go up.

Can anyone recommend a place to buy a custom made to order motorized solar shade? I need a height of 240″

This is to cover three rows of windows that go up 20 feet high. I want a motorized shade (hard wired) that will keep out the afternoon sun/heat….we have sizzling summers in southern Louisiana…..but still be attractive. These windows will have direct sun in the afternoons. All websites I have seen only go up to about 192″ in height. Thanks!
