I do not breast feed,not by choice,my son has had 2 heart surgerys,one when he was 2 days old and one at 3 months.His next will be open heart between 8 and 12 months and i really want him on my milk. He did not have the energy to breast feed so i pump my milk every 3 to 4 hours,very determined.I was dairy free but through the holidays took in some dairy which has caused him to eat only about 10 to 12 oz a day!!He is 4 and a half months old and needs to gain weight.I have him on Nutramigen which is dairy free formula but am scared to put him back on my milk till i know it is all out of my system.I have spoken with a health nurse,a diatitian and my pediatritian and no one can come up with a clear answer.I have been told 8 hours and i have been told 3 to 4 weeks!!Please can someone give me an idea if you know anything.I am still pumping my milk and i now have over 300 oz i am donating to Childrens Hospital and will continue untill i know it is safe to give to my son again.Thank You
