I know it can be done, but how does it actually happen? Is there a diode or something that only allows current to flow into the grid. Does the system have to be at higher voltage than the grid?

i’m looking for anything that runs on dynamo or human power. i want to disconnect from the grid but solar panels and wind generators ar sooo expensive. all i need to power are a few small appliances. and maybe an electric bike that i’d like to get. thank you; links appreciated
aqualuna, i didnt see this on your site

www.greenpowerscience.com This is a grid tie inverter that is 200 watts. It actually reads a bit higher for various reasons. This was to see how well it worked. POWER INVERTERS.

How to make solar panels. You’ll need: Solar Cells (The 0.5 volt / 3.6 Amp type) Soldering Iron 2 x Perspex sheets at least 3mm thick EVA material Araldite or silicon sealant Heat Gun / Hair Dryer Material for spacer ‘beading’ Further SOLAR RESOURCE INFO: www.squidoo.com This part will be covering the soldering, wire connections and EVA applying to the solar panels. The cells are wired up in a series configuration resulting in a theoretical 8 volts from 16 cells. However in extreme sunshine this can result in a 10 volt reading. Cost for all materials was approx £40.
Ensupra grid tie power inverter can obtain the wind and solar energy from wind turbine or solar panel, and can tie to the grid through its output cable with no extra equipment.
The installation is Do-It-Your Self (DIY).
When the sun shines, the PV panel will produces DC voltage, and the grid tie inverter will change the DC voltage to AC voltage and puts out power to the home grid, saving electricity.
INSTALLATION:
1, Connect the Solar Panel or Wind Turbine s DC supply cables to the DC input terminal of the inverter, be sure that the polarity is correct.
Recommended DC input cable size for maximum output is 12AWG or cables that can handle more than 15A. Optimal length would be less than 8m, longer cables will experience higher voltage drop. The range of output power of Solar Panel or Wind Turbine is 50W~550W.
2, Connect the supplied AC power cord to the inverter and plug it to a home wall socket.
3, The green LED indicators will glow when the grid and DC supply is detected. This indicates the inverter is operating under normal condition. The red LED will be on, the inverter will not put out power, this is called Island Protection.
Please follow local regulatory electrical codes for installation. If in doubt, consult appropriate licensed contractor.

I was told that you could be paid by the power companies to generate power, connect it to their grid, and they just send you a check at the end of each month. So long as you can keep the wind or water turbines turning and don’t use more power than they produce you get paid that is. If you were very motivated you could even connect a bike to a belt system and do it that way. The companies were supposed to have a program setup for this and I’d like to be able to get in on it if anyone has heard of, or uses this system and thinks it is also a good idea.
I want to build a new house that is as independent from the power grid as possible, and recycles as much water and waste and possible. This is in the Dallas, Texas area. I am interested in solar, wind and hydrogen energy hybrids.
