Do you believe they really did break the laws of thermodynamics?

There’s a small Irish high-tech company claiming they discovered a way of creating unlimited free energy. That goes against one of our most fundamental ways of understanding the universe: the principle of conservation of energy that says ‘energy can neither be created nor destroyed, it can only change form.’

If they are right it means we would never have to recharge our mobile phones or refuel our cars.

They challenged the scientific community to prove them wrong

The Challenge was published in The Economist magazine.

I am very sceptical about their claim, but if they are right this would be the most bombastic discovery in human history, it would change global economy forever.

What do you think?

why is it that most cellular reactions require energy in the form of ATP?

pls relate to the concept of gibbs free energy.

If E=MC2 then does M=EC to the negative square? Is material existence simply slower energy patterns?

Just an old discussion with a friend from college. I saw an article on the web that brought up the whole question of geometry, music, and reality. Old religious and magic traditions define matter and reality in terms of mathematical equations in the form of sound (logos) or music. I’m sure someone out there has considered the possibility that matter is energy somehow tied to a specific pattern, but what is it about the patterns that makes them repeat in material form? Is it the speed and distance, the tightness of the pattern? We know how to break up existing building blocks, but what about creating new ones? Or is that a TOE or religious question? We know how to destroy matter, but what about creating it? Even stabilizing more of the existing free energy into a material form, like nature does with carbon seems like a useful line of inquiry.

In my engineering class, we have to boil water using only solar power (no solar cells). Any suggestions?

The faster or more water it boils gives us a better grade. We also can make coffee or tea. I know some form of insulation and mirror is needed. I just need the more suggestions. Maybe from anyone who has ever done this before.

is it possible for a new form of energy other than heat and nuclear energy in propulsion system to work with ?

formally we are using heat energy for our basic propusion.. that we are using all our available resources… like crude oil, gasoline…etc.. instead of that is there any new form of energy which can be used effectively and it should be a renewable source of energy and pollution free like solar energy?

What is the best form of pollution-free economical energy? I have an idea, but i’m not sure…?

I think dependence on oil and use of electricity causes a lot of pollution, is too costly and un-economical, and it should be replaced by a pollution-free economical energy that would be less costly or self-sufficient. I think the best would be “man-power”, such as population power, using raw human labor instead of using oil, electricity, and industry. Spreading out the over-populated inhabitants of the cities over the countryside to bring them directly in contact with Agriculture which would provide them with the food, clothing, and shelter materials, through collective ownership of the land and the products of labor. This would would many problems, such as: pollution, international trade exploitation, overpopulation in the towns and cities, poverty, hunger, unemployment, drug smuggling, rape, stealing, drunk-driving accidents, chemical contamination, radiation cancer, depression (loneliness), laziness, and gun-violence.
