can a gear drive operate without friction? give reasons for the same.?

as we know that most of the gears in use today are designed on the basis of two curves involute (path traced by a point on a wire wound on a cirle when it is unwound along its circumference) and cycloidal (locus of any point on a circle rolling over another circle). lets take the latter case. as we say “rolling” it means friction has to be present (a condition for rolling to occur). the gear tooth faces transmit power by applying preesure along the normal to their faces (the direction is called line of action)…but if pressure only is required, can it not be done without friction….even if the above is possible, how is it going to affect the power transimission by a pair of gear teeth?

could out of earth phase superconducting electromagnets keep a solar powered sync satellite in orbit?

instead of conventional propultion, would it be possible to keep a satellite in orbit by using solar cells to power the craft , and drive superconducters magneticly out of phase with the earths magnetic field.

Work and Energy?

A power boat of mass 460 kg is cruising at a constant speed of 8.9 m/s. The propeller provides a drive force of 740 N. The driver of the boat shuts off the engine, and the boat coasts to a halt. Assume — contrary to fact — that the resistive force due to the water is constant, independent of the boat’s speed.
(a) How far does the boat coast?

(b) How much time does it take for the boat to come to rest after the engine is turned off?

get chevy powered 1963 front end loader running

modified from diesel to gas with a chev 305 v8. sat since last year.

what if the dynamo ran the motor that ran the dynamo?

So if you get a dynamo ,start it by revolving the armature which in turn is connected by the same spindel running though the centre of the Drive motor armature, would the power from the dynamo run the motor and in turn the motor run the dynamo, Ok so you cant get out as much as you put in , so what if you added a fly wheel to the motor, this flywheel connected to its own motor powered by solor enegy , when the initial power from the solar panel starts the fly wheel would there be enough momentem to start the main motor and in turn start the dynano and supply the drive motor with the enegy required to run the dynano….thingy
Now read this again and i hope it kinda makes some sence

Why does my boat blow fuses?

I have a 1987 Rinker 4.3 inboard with stern drive. When I am out on the water it sometimes blowes the main fuse not giving power to any thing on the boat. I try a new larger fuse and it blowes that fuse. Sometimes after the boat has sat for a while it will eventully take another fuse. And the boat could run all day or blow another fuse. Any suggestions on how to track the problem?
