Timeline of how the events shaped up:

- JAN 06 Hamas voted into power, sanctions are placed on the government untill it renounces violence and recognises israel. Hamas continues its 11 month ceasefire with Israel

- JUN 06 Israeli gunboats fire onto Gaza beach killing 10 beach goers and injuring dozens, Hamas calls off ceasefire

- JUL 06 Hamas retaliates capturing Israeli corporal Gilad Shalit and killing two others, Hamas officially recognises Israel, signing the “prisoners bill”

- Israel invades gaza, bombing a civillian power station cutting off water and electricity from the gaza population as well as attacks on Palestinian Militants.

-Hezbollah attacks israel, killing eight soldiers and kidnapping two

- Israel invades lebanon

LA Department of Water and Power in Crisis

Since 1994, when DWP workers won kudos for their timely response to the Northridge earthquake, the DWP has reduced critical staff to the point where basic maintenance and updating of the system goes undone. Furthermore, the DWP has not updated its equipment, the average age of which is 60 years old, twice its expected lifespan. The DWP has also failed to take steps to deal with increased demands for both water and power because of the growth of population in the City of Los Angeles. The result is a system that is unable to deal with a prolonged heat wave, like that in the summer of 2006, let alone a terrorist attack, an earthquake, or other catastrophe.

Theists…could my remarkable invention solve the energy crisis?

Here is my experiment. I would like to do the following:

1) State that I’m an atheist on Yahoo answers.
2) Challenge all the theists most basic beliefs.
3) Attach all their fingers to some sort of electrical generators.
4) Sit back and watch them type endless pages of scripture, thus creating gobs of free energy!
5) Periodically re-incite them by denying the existence of god, satan, everlasting life, hell, blah, blah, blah.

Note: this question is a test bed… lets see if I’m on to something.

Might it be possible to use earths gravity to produce electricity?

Does anyone think it might be possible to make a device that would produce an electrical charge by gravity or magnet energy passing through it? If this would be possible, it could be the very answer to the worlds energy crisis and could be used to replace coal, natural gas, and the interal combustion engine. This could be a device that saves the planet by providing us all with a completely free, abundant, and above all, clean source of untapped energy.
Keep in mind that this must not have negative effects on the Earths magnetic field for obvious reasons.

When was America’s “prime”?

People are always saying how America (or the world in general) is in such a bad condition. (mentioning problems like Iraq War, energy crisis, etc.) But has America ever actually been in a “good” direction and position before? Was there ever a time when America was care-free and peaceful? Isthe quantity of our problems actually increasing, or are we just experiencing different types of problems than we have been for the past few centuries?

Why not nuclear the same as France?

I’ve read many questions and answers about power generation and how the US energy crisis could be solved by renewable resources such as wind or solar cells. While wind, solar cells, hydro, landfill gas and other types of renewable generation all have their place in an overall mix, due to their variability and diffuse nature, none are a viable source of reliable base load power. I emphasis the importance of reliability since there are no practical methods of storing energy that do not have a steep price in efficiency.

The first method of effectively increasing the supply of renewable energy is to use less. Next, if and until fusion power becomes a reality, the only other answer, and I know there will weeping, arm flailing and talk of doomsday, is the use of fail safe nuclear reactors (they will shut down before melting down) with fuel reprocessing to alleviate the spent waste storage problem. 80% of France’s power is nuclear. What do they know that we don’t?

When will our government admit it possesses “zero point energy” technology, which is clean, free, energy?

alleges that our military industrial complex has reverse engineered, in covert military projects, extra-terrestrial power systems which could easily solve our energy “crisis.” The upshot is that the last 50+ years of oil and nuclear pollution has been unecessary, because we’ve secretly possessed this technology since the 1950′s or so. The Disclosure Project has 400+ witnesses willing to testify against the government in Congressional Hearings, but the political will-power does not yet exist because no one will take this topic seriously, and certainly not the US mainstream media! A 19th century physicist, Nikola Tesla, also made similar discoveries about energy — and his research is also heavily suppressed because if everyone could run their house, or car, or business from a zero point energy generator then the power companies couldn’t hook a meter up to it and charge you for the service. A 1st world standard of living could be sustainable with ZPE.
