I’m trying to find a great gift idea for christmas. I would love something that I can buy for my parents, in-laws, grandparents, and 5 grown brothers. Preferably less than $30 each. I thought that “AutoCool” thing on TV looks pretty cool. Its solar powered and is supossed to keep your car cool when its parked so when you get in it, its not hot. Would that be a weird gift to give at christmas time? Do you think thats a good idea, or does anyone else have any other good ideas?

I used to have a Nissan truck and it wall turning into a regular bucket piece of s..t and someone told me it was the catalytic convertor(got rid of the truck and never fixed it to find out) now I have a ford explorer and just changed the radiator water with antifreeze, plus my power steering pump is going out so I think it is putting a drag on my fan belt a little. So we have had temps outside between 75-102 and I notice my temp gage going a little over the C line then drops a little and goes back up. I have already replaced my water pump, thermostat and radiator. I’m thinking the ammonia smell might be coming from the cooling system is this at all possible. Please only real answers of people who know what they are talking about. I really appreciate the help.

Has anyone tried, purchased, seen, or otherwise heard of the AutoCool? Apparently its a solar powered fan that you can put in the window crack of your car and it will keep it cool. However I am skeptical as to whether or not it really works, so I just wonder if anyone knows anything about it.

Your car runs out of gas – that’s a problem. Your electric car runs out of battery power – simply park and have lunch and let the sun partially recharge the batteries, then you’re on your way. Once your home or work or a store, either plug it in to an outlet or hook it up to a solar collecter car port for a faster re-charge. How many of you would buy an electric car with solar cells? I wonder what the current technology efficiency level is for recharging a small 2 seat compact anyway? I think it’s time – who wants to go into business with me?
