Hydro….BC?

My Hydro Bill is unusually high, Im great with lights and I dont leave alot of things running, as I really cant afford to!! My question is, My hot water tank alllows me all of a 10 minute shower if Im lucky!! Can a burnt out burner cause more hydro to be used then nessesary??? And if so……..I rent, is it out of my power to ask my landlord to replace my hot water tank even though it does work a little??? Please remember I live in BC Canada!! thanks a million!!
No, Im talking about Hydro BC, thats electricity!! thats what the bill is called in BC, Canada……Im not talking about water use!! Im talking the heating of the water!!

If you stretch a wire across your yard, would it generate a voltage?

If you touch the wire to a meter and the other meter lead to ground, how many volts could I expect to get? I heard talk of some experiment in Canada where they were to build a large tower to generate power from the sky, not solar.
It was a tower that could catch energy from somewhere like the milky way or northern something. The place in Canada was closest to this area.

Across Canada in the last day:

- heavy rains and high winds in BC fell huge trees and collapse some buildings
- high winds in Alberta cause widespread damage such as snapping trees and power poles in half, blowing over trucks, and sending residents to their basements
- flooding rains in Toronto
- extreme warmth (high teens or mid 60′s in F) with rain from southern Quebec through the Maritimes where there may be thunderstorms as well.
It’s now in the 20′s (near 70 on the old F scale) in parts of Quebec, and likely to stay that warm overnight

Canada, says that Revived Batteries could provide nearly-free energy to Third World countries, for people who won’t be able to afford the $60,000+ electric cars. As the newspaper writers said, this is one of the solutions to global warming and climate change, and these Vancouver guys are fans of Al Gore’s “An Inconvenient Truth” and “Who Killed The Electric Car”.

This info should be passed to appropriate agencies in other countries because the guys in Vancouver might be interested in teaching people to do this.
